Squam Mountain Morgan Trail

Date: Friday May 31, 2013
Time: 3 hours 15 minutes
Elevation: 2200 feet
Distance: 4.2 miles total
Backpacks: Billy 28lbs, Susan 14 lbs

I did not climb up the ladders!!! We went around.  Billy climbed down the ladders from the top and went in the cave without me.

Today was the hike of the frogs!  We saw 3 frogs this time!  I took this picture for Nina and Maya!

Today we hiked Morgan Trail of Squam Mountain.  We got there early (9:30, early for us).  It was hot!  A 90 degree day.  That is good preparation for the Canyon.  It was not as hard as Mount Manadnock, but it felt harder for me going up because I had the big backpack on.

Proper Gear

On Mother's Day, I got all the proper gear from my Mom, the great adventurist who walked the Camino de Santiago with my Dad in 28 days (600 miles!).  She has the best back pack ever!  She also helped me make this blog which I could not have done without her.

Pawtuckaway State Park

Date: May 11, 2013
Distance: 6 miles
Time: 2 hours, 10 minutes

Nina found 8 salamanders on the hike!

We hiked Pawtuckaway State Park with Cheryl, Nina and Maya.  I carried 12 pounds on my back.  I loved the hike, but it was easy.

Mount Manadnock

Mount Manadnock Elevation: 3165 feet
Elevation gain: about 1800 feet
Time: 3.5 hours
Distance: 4.5 miles round trip
Date: May 5, 2013

We hiked Mount Manadnock today to begin preparing for our hike in the Grand Canyon in the fall.  We took the White dot trail up (steep!) and the White Cross Trail down (least steep way down!).  It was hard for me on the way down but that was because my legs were spent!  I need to train.  Billy could probably hike the Grand Canyon tomorrow.
